Using the menu bar icon

Accessing the Menu Bar Icon

By default, the menu bar icon is hidden. To show the menu bar icon, open the Copilot's settings and check the box labeled "Show Kite icon in your menu bar". The menu bar icon will be placed in your system's menu bar and will allow you to perform several functions, depending on your OS.

macOS

  • Clicking on "Signed in as..." or "Settings..." will open the Copilot's settings. Note that "Signed in as..." will read "Login or Create Account" if you are not signed in.
  • Clicking on "Support" will give you options to get help.
  • Clicking on "Open Copilot" and "Close Copilot" will open and close the Copilot, respectively.
  • Clicking on "Check for Updates..." will allow you to update Kite, if possible.
  • Clicking on "Quit Kite" will quit the entire Kite application.
  • The last item shows the version of Kite you are running.

Windows

In Windows, the menu bar icon is in the system tray, as outlined in the screenshot above. Clicking on it will show the available menu items.

  • Clicking on "Login or Create Account" or "Settings..." will open the Copilot's settings. Note that "Login or Create Account" will read "Signed in as..." if you are signed in.
  • Clicking on "Support" will give you options to get help.
  • Clicking on "Open Copilot" and "Close Copilot" will open and close the Copilot, respectively.
  • Clicking on "Quit Kite" will quit the entire Kite application.
  • The last item shows the version of Kite you are running.

Linux

There is currently no menu bar icon implemented in Linux.
