How to uninstall Kite

To completely remove Kite from your system, follow these steps:

Uninstall all plugins

First, use the plugin manager to uninstall all editor plugins. You can learn how to use the plugin manager here.

Alternatively, you can uninstall editor plugins manually if you do not wish to start the Kite application.

Uninstalling the Atom plugin

You can uninstall the Atom plugin through Atom's built-in package manager.

Uninstalling the Sublime Text plugin

On macOS, you can remove the file $HOME/Library/Application Support/Sublime Text 3/Installed Packages/Kite.sublime-package.

On Windows, you can remove the file %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\Sublime Text 3\Installed Packages\Kite.sublime-package. Please note that you'll need to quit Sublime Text before doing so.

Uninstalling the VS Code plugin

You can uninstall the VS Code plugin through VS Code's built-in extension manager.

Uninstalling the IntelliJ & PyCharm plugin

You can uninstall the IntelliJ and PyCharm plugin by opening the editor's preferences, then navigating to Plugins, selecting "Kite", and then clicking "Uninstall".

Uninstalling the Vim plugin

On macOS, assuming your configuration is in $HOME/.vim/, you can remove the directory $HOME/.vim/pack/kite/. Please note that you'll need to restart Vim for the uninstall to take effect.

On Windows, assuming your configuration is in %USERPROFILE%\vimfiles\, you can remove the directory %USERPROFILE%\vimfiles\pack\kite\. Please note that you'll need to restart Vim for the uninstall to take effect.

Uninstalling the Neovim plugin

On macOS, assuming your configuration is in $HOME/.config/nvim/, you can remove the directory $HOME/.config/nvim/pack/kite/. Please note that you'll need to restart Neovim for the uninstall to take effect.

On Windows, assuming your configuration is in %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\nvim\, you can remove the directory %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\nvim\pack\kite\. Please note that you'll need to restart Neovim for the uninstall to take effect.

Stop the Kite processes

Quit all running Kite processes.

Remove Kite local data

Kite stores local data on your computer which you can remove safely.

  • In macOS, you can remove the directory $HOME/.kite/
  • In Windows, you can remove the directory %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Kite\

Uninstall Kite

  • In macOS, drag the Kite application into the trash bin and then delete Kite from the bin
  • In Windows, open the Control Panel, click on “Programs and Features”, then find Kite and remove it
