Memory and CPU usage

In January 2019, we brought Kite's engine off the cloud and into a local app that runs entirely on your computer to allow users to keep their code private. Running our machine learning models on your machine is resource-intensive, but we have been consistently dedicating time to reducing Kite's impact on memory and CPU. You can read more about this work on our blog: memory and CPU improvements

If you're still experiencing memory and/or CPU issues, we're happy to help debug! Please contact us at and include the following to help us get to the root cause:

Please send us a memory and CPU profile of Kite while it's consuming your resources. You can do this with the following terminal commands:
  • wget http://localhost:46624/debug/pprof/heap
  • wget http://localhost:46624/debug/pprof/profile?seconds=120
If you don't have wget on your system, you can visit the URLs in the browser and send us the downloaded files.
Also, please send us your latest Kite logs:
  • macOS and Linux: ~/.kite/logs/client.log
  • Windows: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Kite\logs\client.log

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this may be causing you! Thanks for using Kite and helping us create the future of programming with your feedback and support.

If you have additional feedback for us, please send it along to - we read every email.
